Give your reasons to support your opinion in choosing a teaching model to teach English skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking)

Answer:

Direct instruction (DI) is a general term for the explicit teaching of a skill-set using lectures or demonstrations of the material to students. The teacher acts as the conveyor of information, and in this case the teacher should use a variety of appropriate media, such as films, tape recorders, pictures, shows, and so on. Information conveyed can be in the form of procedural knowledge (i.e., knowledge of how to do something) or declarative knowledge, (i.e., knowledge of something can be facts, concepts, principles, or generalizations). DI may depend on the type of student and the teacher’s objectives. In a small-group approach, high ability students often must explain to others. While these explanations benefit the giver in increasing their learning, it does not necessarily increase the knowledge or skills of the receiver. On the other hand, low ability students need greater direction and help from the teacher. Therefore, if the instructional task calls for the teaching of isolated skills and knowledge in an interactive and guided format, such as only reading or arithmetic skills, DI is a good choice. If a teacher wants to teach inquiry skills, DI is not the best model.


In my mind, direct interaction is an effective model for teaching reading and writing. because the teacher can immediately provide an explanation of the material to be delivered. like reading, the teacher can provide several articles, or students can bring their favorite reading book, then the teacher and students can immediately discuss to discuss the material needed. writing is also effective using this model because the teacher can immediately explain what needs to be written, its uses and the correct way of writing. And teachers and students can ask and answer each other to better understand the material presented.

And to speaking and listening direct interaction is also very good, because we can provide explanations directly. like speaking, we can provide an explanation of how to speak using English language appropriately and students can immediately practice it in front of the class, we can also ask them to sing songs in English, songs that they like, I think it can make students feel more embarrassed learn to speak. And to listening, the teacher can immediately provide material and practice it, such as watching movies in English without subtitles, and listening to songs in English without lyrics. that way learning English becomes much more fun
