Social Media

Social media is a tool that is becoming quite popular these days. Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok, and more are giving people a chance to connect with each other across distances.  This is the power of social media in the present time, because of its user-friendly features. People can spend time with their phones on social media apps and feel comfortable interacting with these apps. The proliferation of gadgets has also been followed by the development of interesting features, one of which is on social media. The Users also come from various backgrounds, be it children, teenagers, adults to the elderly.  The youth is especially one of the most dominant users of social media. 

Like how there are always two sides to a coin, the same goes for social media. When we look at the positive aspect of social media, we find numerous advantages. The most important being a great device for education. All the information one requires is just a click away. Students can educate themselves on various topics using social media, especially during this pandemic.

In addition, applications in social media offer many benefits for a business, it acts as a great medium to know your customers, entice them and grow your business. Social media marketing is a powerful way for businesses of all sizes to reach prospects and customers. Business people can promote their business easily and practically with social media, one of the examples via Instagram. Nowadays almost everyone promotes their business through Instagram, be it food, tips, skincare, education, and many more, because Instagram has interesting features, easy to access, and of course free.

While having many advantages, social media is considered to be one of the most harmful elements of society. If the use of social media is not monitored, it can lead to grave consequences. It is harmful because it invades your privacy like never before. It is true that over time social media makes its users addicted. The oversharing happening on social media makes children a target for predators and hackers. It also leads to cyberbullying. Excessive use of social media has the potential to make someone anti-social because it makes someone forget about the environment and people around them. Ideally, social media is a solution to make it easier for someone to communicate with each other. However, excessive use of course will lead to negative forms of anti-social, which is the opposite of the original purpose of making social media itself. Uncontrolled social use can damage health as well, especially eye health.

In other words, surely social media has both advantages and disadvantages. But, it all depends on the user at the end.  Excess use of anything is harmful and the same thing applies to social media. Therefore, we must strive to live a satisfying life with the right balance.
