Online School Dilemma During The Pandemic

The Covid-19 epidemic continues to hit the world, including in Indonesia. State efforts to prevent the spread of the virus have also penetrated the world of education. Based on the Policy of the Minister of Education and Culture regarding the Implementation of Education Policies in an Emergency Period of the Spread of Covid-19, he advised that the implementation of learning be carried out from home through online learning or learning from home.

The implementation of learning activities from home is usually done using google classroom, whatsapp group, zoom, or other media. Through this online learning media the teacher delivers material to students. The advantage of online learning is that it is not bound by time and space. So that anytime students can still follow the lessons from the teacher. However, in reality this learning activity is not easy to implement in Indonesia. There are many limitations and problems that must be faced.

  Some of them are from an educator perspective, some teachers who do not yet have the ability to take advantage of the sophistication of technology they have. From a student perspective, not all students have an android or laptop to access learning materials. In addition, in remote areas, for example, not all students come from families who can afford to buy internet quota all the time. We know that Indonesia is a large country and not all of its citizens are in urban areas. Those who live in remote areas, sometimes still not reached by electricity and internet. Therefore, it is not right that this learning from home policy is beaten equally for all regions of Indonesia. This government policy regarding learning from home is a good policy to prevent the wider spread of the virus taking advantage of today's technology. So that learning activities can still be carried out properly.
