The Effect of Drugs on the Development of the Nation's Generation
Today, drugs are a serious problem in any part of the world. Many drug cases are difficult to solve. Drugs (Narcotics, Psychotropics and other dangerous addictive substances) are substances which, when taken into the human body, whether by mouth, inhaled or injected, can change a person's thoughts, moods or feelings, and behavior.
According to Law number 22 of 1997 concerning Drugs, namely, substances or drugs derived from plants or non-plants, both synthetic and semi-synthetic. These substances cause a decrease or change in consciousness, relieve taste, reduce to eliminate pain, and can cause dependence.
As the name suggests, drugs consist of three types, namely:
1. Narcotics
Which includes narcotics, namely: Papaver plants, raw opium, cooking opium (opium, jicing, jicingko), medicinal opium, morphine, cocaine, ekgoniana, cannabis plants, and marijuana resin. Salts and derivatives of morphine and cocaine, and mixtures and preparations containing the aforementioned ingredients.
2. Psychotropics
Among others: Sedatin (BK pills), Rohypnol, Magadon, Valium, Mandarax, Amfetamine, Fensyclidine, Metakualone, Metifenidate, Phenobarbitol, Flunitrazepam, Ecstasy, Shabu-shabu, LSD (Lycergic Eyebrow Diethylamide), etc.
3. Other dangerous addicts
Namely: Alcohol containing ethyl ethanol, inhalent/sniffing (solvent) in the form of organic substances (carbon) which produce the same effect as that produced by alcoholic drinks or anaesthetic drugs if the aroma is inhaled. Example: glue/adhesive, acetone, ether, etc.
As for drugs according to their effects, they are divided into three, namely:
1. Depressants, namely pressing the nervous system pust. For example: opiodes and various derivatives such as morphin and heroin, and putaw.
2. Stimulant, stimulates bodily functions and increases excitement and awareness. Examples: Caffeine, cocaine, amphetamines, crystal meth and ecstasy.
3. Hallucinogens, change the power of perception or result in hallucinations. Examples: mescaline from cactus, psilocybin from mushrooms, LSD, and marijuana.
Currently, drugs have been rampant among teenagers. This is indeed a dangerous threat to the Indonesian nation. Based on a national survey of drug abuse conducted by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) on 13.710 respondents consisting of junior high school students, high school students and university students, it was obtained that data in the last year there were 3,9% of respondents who abused drugs. There are many motivations and causes for people to take drugs, among others:
1. To feel pleasure, to create self-confidence, to feel satisfaction and relaxation.
2. To feel better, relieve stress and depression from various problems.
3. To improve body performance.
4. Just curiosity.
But in essence, if drugs are used continuously it will result in dependence. This will result in physical disorders, such as disorders of the nervous system, heart and blood vessels, skin, lungs, frequent headaches, nausea and vomiting, increased body temperature, liver wasting and difficulty sleeping, decreased reproductive hormone function and disorders. sexual function, changes in periods and menstrual irregularities, amenorrhoea (no menstruation), hepatitis B and C, HIV, and finally death.
As for psychological disorders, such as: sluggish work, sloppy, tense and restless, pessimistic, apathetic, delusional, full of suspicion, becoming persistent/malignant, difficulty concentrating, feeling irritated and depressed, and often hurting oneself. Apart from that, there are also social impacts, such as mental disorders, anti-social and immoral behavior, being ostracized, becoming a family burden, and a bleak future.
It is difficult for someone to get away from dependence on drugs. It must start from the wearer's awareness and strong will, and be supported by those around him. Meanwhile, to avoid drugs we are advised to get closer to God and realize the consequences that will be received if using drugs.
